Green Technologies and Practices at Business Establishments

About three-fourths of business establishments in the U.S. reported the use of at least one green technology or practice, according to a recent release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS surveyed businesses about their green technologies and practices, meaning those that reduce the environmental impact of an establishment's operations.

The BLS survey also found that 854,700 jobs nationwide were held by workers who spent more than half of their time involved in green technologies and practices. More than one-fourth of these jobs were in building, grounds cleaning, and maintenance occupations or in installation, maintenance, and repair occupations. The information and educational services industries reported the highest incidence of green technologies and practices. The two most frequently reported types of green technologies and practices were those that improve energy efficiency, and those that reduce the creation of waste materials.

Oregon falls in the West region, which reported the highest share (76.7%) of establishments with at least one green technology or practice. The West region also reported the highest share of establishments that used green technologies or practices to reduce or eliminate the creation of waste materials as a result of business operations.

How about energy costs? Costs also one factor on green technology. Determining the difference between renewable energy costs than using non-renewable energy resource.

If the energy costs of green technology is fairly less than conventional, then this is great.
