Total nonfarm employment in Oregon was 1,730,000 in June, up 2.7 percent (or 45,700) since June 2013. Construction grew more than any other industry, at 6.9 percent over the year ending in June 2014. Construction was followed by information (+4.7%). Government (+1.2%) and financial activities (+.4%) grew the least.
Across metro areas, Portland's employment grew the most over the year (3.3%). While most metro areas saw employment growth in the 2 to 3 percent range, Corvallis grew at just 0.3 percent. Medford saw employment decline (-0.8%).For more on Oregon's employment numbers, see this month's Fast Facts.
