Today a pair of stories from CNN Money report on U.S. companies looking to implement robots and other technology like self-service kiosks into their operations.
The first report
shares news that Amazon plans to use 10,000 robots -- up from the
current 1,000 -- by the end of this year to fulfill customer orders. The
company expects that the number of people they currently employ will
not be affected by this change.
The second article reports that Panera Bread is introducing self-service kiosks and mobile ordering options to all of its locations within the next three years. The Chili's and Applebees chains have already introduced tablet devices at restaurant tables for patrons to directly self-order and pay.
