From openings and expansions to closures and layoffs, a mixture of business activity in a variety of industries is occurring around the state.

- Aspen Grove Wellness Center opened in Beaverton. It offers alternative and traditional wellness services including acupuncture, chiropractic, hypnotherapy, massage, and naturopathic medicine. The Oregonian, 10/10/2013
- Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts will open a store in Hazel Dell. It will employ about five full-time management staff and 20 part-time workers. The Columbian, 10/7/2013
