Sixteen of Oregon’s
counties had seasonally adjusted unemployment rates at or below the statewide rate of 8.4 percent in February. Benton County
continued to have Oregon’s lowest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate (6.2%). Crook County (13.4%) registered the highest county-level rate for the month.
Total
nonfarm payroll employment rose in five of Oregon’s six broad regions between February
2012 and February 2013. The largest job gains were reported in Central Oregon
(+2.1%) and Portland (+1.5%). Smaller employment gains occurred over the year in
Southern Oregon (+0.9%), along the Oregon Coast (+0.7%), and the Willamette
Valley (+0.3%).
