Florists, Donuts, and Other Business Announcements Around the State

There were a few trends in this week's edition of Around the State.

Just in time for Easter, you'll find two new florist shops:

  • Rogue River Florist in Grants Pass reopened under new ownership. KTVL, 2/14/2013
  •  Valley Evergreens, a florist shop, opened in Woodburn. Woodburn Independent, 2/13/2013
Another theme was one that I can definitely appreciate: doughnut shops!
  • Pip's Original, a doughnut shop, opened in northeast Portland. The Oregonian, 2/24/2013
  •  LUVS Donuts will open in Bend this spring. Cascade Business News, 2/21/2013
In addition to these two, last week's AtS included another donut shop opening: Blue Star Donuts in Portland.

Additionally, there were several big expansion announcements this past week, outside of Oracle:
  • Eugene-based Western Shelter was bought by a partnership of company managers and Gorge Holdings, a Portland-based private equity firm. It makes tent shelters, mobile trailers, and other equipment for emergency, commercial, and military operations. Plans call for adding to its existing workforce of 140 to 150 people. The Register-Guard, 2/20/2013
  •  Kohl's will open a store in Sherwood next month. It will employ 105 people. The Sherwood Gazette, 2/21/2013

You can find more business news in the full issue of AtS.
