High-Tech Highlights from Eugene and Portland

Two articles in today's news highlight innovative high-tech-related projects in Eugene and Portland.

The Register Guard reports on a new website, called the "Silicon Shire", which promotes the Eugene-Springfield high-tech sector. The page, which was launched in July by website development firm Concentric Sky, features a directory and map of local tech businesses. Concentric Sky Vice President Cal Bruckner hopes the site will help connect businesses with recent graduates, encourage more networking among companies, and raise the area's visibility by "making our presence known locally, in the state and on the West Coast." The full article has more details.

In other news, Nike announced its new Nike+Accelerator business incubator program, which will provide 10 companies with an intensive three-month mentorship. Nike+Accelerator aims to support companies that plan to utilize Nike+ technology for health and fitness-related products or services. Nike will provide development tools, facilities, technical platforms, and other resources for Nike applications and software. The program will be based in Portland, and starts in March 2013. You can get more details in Nike's press release.
