Preschools, Grocery Stores, and Global Cuisine Around the State


This week's Around the State listing of business news features school announcements and lots of food options. 

A new preschool recently opened its doors, while a chain of preschools announced plans to expand:
  •  The Warrenton School District opened Warrenton Prep, a fee-based preschool. The Daily  Astorian, 7/26/2012
  • Primrose Schools, a private preschool franchise, plans to open at least 15 schools in the Portland metro area over the next five years. The Oregonian, 8/9/2012
Grocery stores and specialty food shops were also a trend:
  • Ray's Food Place opened in Philomath. It employs 35 people. Corvallis Gazette-Times, 8/9/2012
  • Idlewild Market opened in Hood River. Hood River News, 8/8/2012
  • Boulton & Son Butchers will open in Ashland. Ashland Daily Tidings, 8/13/2012
Lastly, several new ethnic restaurants opened:
  • Noi, a Thai restaurant, will open in Bend this fall. The Bulletin, 8/11/2012
  • Nudi, a restaurant featuring noodle items from all over the globe, opened in southeast Portland. Neighborhood Notes, 8/7/2012
  • Happy Curry Foods, an Indian restaurant, opened in downtown Salem. Statesman Journal, 8/15/2012
