Employment Fast Facts for September

Each month we compile employment, unemployment, and wage information into a one-page "Fast Facts" sheet. Here are some tidbits from our latest edition:
  • Oregon maintained an unemployment rate of 9.6 percent in September, which ranked 15th highest nationwide.
  • In September 2011, the number of unemployed Oregonians dropped by 19,738 (-10.0%) from the previous year.
  • From September 2010 to September 2011, total nonfarm employment growth in Oregon was 24,000, which ranked Oregon as the 12th fastest among all states.
  • Growth in Oregon's information and leisure and hospitality industries was ranked 4th highest nationally. Leisure and hospitality had the highest year-over-year growth with 9,300 additional jobs (+5.5%).
