Solar employment and green manufacturing news

Two releases posted on PR Newswire this week have some green jobs news.

First, The Solar Foundation released its second annual report on the U.S. solar workforce. The Solar Foundation estimates 100,237 solar workers nationwide in August 2011, an increase of 6.8 percent from August 2010. That's significantly faster growth than the average national rate of 0.7 percent. Half of the employers surveyed expect to add jobs by August 2012.

The study reports over 3,300 solar jobs in Oregon, which ranks third nationwide for per capita solar jobs.

Second, PR Newswire released news from The Manufacturing Skills Standards Council on a new green production certification. The green production module helps train and assess front-line manufacturing workers according to national industry-defined standards for green production. Workers and students can earn a nationally recognized green production certificate.

The green production module was designed to include all types of manufacturers. Learn more in the full release.
