Oregon (Un)Employment Continues Flat Streak

Oregon's nonfarm payroll employment declined by 600 jobs in September, following an adjusted gain of 1,200 in August. Job gains exceeded 1,000 in leisure and hospitality (+1,100 jobs) and other services (+1,400). The largest losses occurred in trade, transportation, and utilities (-1,700) and professional and business services (-1,000).
The statewide unemployment rate was 9.6 percent in September, unchanged from August. The U.S. rate has remained at 9.1 percent for the past three months.
