National Unemployment Insurance Claims Dropped

A few rays of economic sunlight shone when the U.S. Department of Labor announced that last week's initial unemployment claims (seasonally adjusted) dropped 37,000 to 391,000. Since claims data are volatile, it's best to take the four-week moving average, as shown in the graph below.
You can see a slight dip, but only time will tell if this trend will continue.
