Oregon Personal Income Declines in 2009

Last Thursday, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) released 2009 estimates on personal income in each state. The BEA report finds that Oregonians' personal income fell 0.8 percent last year, which was less severe than the average national decline of 1.7 percent. Oregon also ranked 31st nationally in terms of per capita personal income (that is, personal income divided by population).

The change in state personal income ranged from -4.8 percent in Nevada to 2.1 percent in West Virginia. Only six states had personal income gains in 2009.
