Several big business changes in this week's Around the State

This week's business news from around the state included several large changes, like...

• Costco has submitted site plans for a 154,701-square-foot store and an eight-pump fueling station in east Vancouver. Long-term plans call for two adjacent retail buildings. The Columbian, 1-26-10

• Best Buy will open at the Poplar Square in Medford. It will employ about 100 people. KDRV.com, 2-10-10

• Murphy Co. will reopen the former Panel Products mill in Rogue River. It will produce softwood plywood products and employ about 150 people. Grants Pass Daily Courier, 2-10-10

• AC Solar Technology in Bend will begin production of its Blue Leaf 210W AC Module. It expects to employ up to 150 workers. Bend Bulletin, 2-9-10

• Royal Caribbean has increased its Eugene call center workforce from 250 in October to 394, including 70 recent hires that are still in training. Register-Guard, 1-30-10


Other announcements included:
• Binoculars Etc. in Coos Bay closed. The World, 1-30-10

• Cloud 9 Bakery in Enterprise, which closed following weather-related damage last fall, will reopen. Most of the former staff are returning. Wallowa County Chieftain, 1-28-10


And just as a personal note, one of the announcements made my day:
• Jonathan’s reopened at a new location in Salem. It offers Cajun fare, sandwiches, stews, and seafood. Statesman Journal, 2-10-10
