Local and national news are one in the same today!

Two stories we've picked up early this week are both local and national in scope. First, several reports this morning detail President Obama's proposed 2012 budget, which was released yesterday. The proposal continues special funding for Oregon timber counties, but at a 10 percent reduction in 2012 from current levels, with further declines in successive years.

Read more in stories published by Bloomberg, The Oregonian, and others.

Or, perhaps ask the President himself?

Mr. Obama will be visiting Intel's campus in Hillsboro this Friday. Budget items won't be the focus of his visit though. Instead, the President is expected to tour Intel's facility and learn about the company's STEM* program, which is designed to better prepare students to compete for high-tech jobs.

Additional details are available in the full article from The Oregonian.
