Oregon Unemployment Rates by Education Level

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released data on unemployment rates by educational attainment. This data is rather timely as students all over Oregon are preparing to hit the books for the 2014-15 school year.

The 2013 annual average unemployment rate for Oregonians age 25 and older was 6.5 percent. For those with at least a bachelor's degree the rate was much lower: 3.6 percent. That’s less than half the rate for those with some college or an associate degree (7.7%), and about one-fourth the rate for those without a high school diploma (13.3%). With an unemployment rate of 7.6 percent, high school graduates fared better than those who did not complete high school, and about the same as those with some college or an associate degree.
