Oregon Business Announcements

A summary of this week's business announcements in Oregon includes a newly opened travel plaza and the announcement of a new wellness center!

Openings:
  • Construction will begin this summer on the Shevlin Health and Wellness Center, an 11-building facility in northwest Bend. It will offer primary medical and holistic care, and fitness and veterinary services. The Bulletin, 2/8/2014

  • Flying J Travel Plaza, featuring nine diesel lanes, 16 gas lanes, Subway, PJ Fresh Marketplace, and Cinnabon, opened in Aurora. It employs 60 people. Woodburn Independent, 2/5/2014
  • CafĂ© Yumm!, an Asian and Mediterranean fusion and casual dining restaurant, opened in south Salem. Statesman Journal, 2/4/2014

Closings:
  • Valley View Tractor & Equipment, Inc. in Newberg will close. The Newberg Graphic, 2/5/2014
  • SierraPine will close its particleboard plant in Springfield in April, laying off 87 workers. The Register-Guard, 2/12/2014
  • After more than 100 years in business, Willamette General Store in West Linn closed. West Linn Tidings, 1/15/2014
  • Allied Specialty Vehicles Inc., a maker of small, towable trailers, closed its plant in Harrisburg, laying off 120 workers. The Register-Guard, 2/12/2014
