Business Openings Around the State

This week's announcements include a hospital replacement project and an addition to an existing hospital:

Openings and expansions:
  • Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay is adding a 30-bed medical unit with private rooms, hyperbaric chambers in the wound care clinic, and a cancer center that will include chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. The World, 2/4/2014
  • Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette plans to build a 24,000-square-foot thrift store and donation center in Lincoln City. The News Guard, 1/29/2014
  • Epic Aircraft, a kit airplane manufacturer in Bend, will hire 24 workers. The Bulletin, 2/1/2014
  • O'Reilly Auto Parts opened in Baker City. It employs nine people. Baker City Herald, 1/8/2014
  • C'est Si Bon! Crepes + Vins opened in northeast Portland. It offers sweet and savory crepes, charcuterie plates, and wine. The Oregonian, 2/2/2014
  • Bill the Butcher, a Seattle-based sustainable butcher shop, plans to open 10 locations in Portland. The Oregonian, 1/28/2014
  • Angela Estate will open a tasting room in Dundee. News-Register, 1/27/2014
  • The Oregon State Hospital replacement project is under construction in Junction City. The 211,000-square-foot psychiatric hospital, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2015, will employ 170 trade workers while under construction and 576 staff when it is fully operational.   • Sundance Healing Arts Center, a yoga and fitness studio, opened in Grants Pass. Grants Pass Daily Courier, 2/2/2014
Closings:
  • American Licorice Company will move its corporate office from Bend to Indiana. It employs 30 people. The Bulletin, 2/5/2014
  • Nordstrom stores at the Lloyd Center in Portland and Westfield Vancouver Mall will close in January 2015. The Lloyd Center store employs about 220 people and the Vancouver store 164. It will try to place workers at its nearby full-line stores or Nordstrom Rack discount stores. The Oregonian, 2/5/2014
  • Emmons Meat Market near Corvallis will close at the end of the month. Corvallis Gazette-Times, 1/23/2014
