Business Openings, Expansions, and Closures

From openings to closings, this week's Around the State business announcements include a variety of business news.

If you're looking for a place to eat, there are a few new restaurants to choose from:

• Grain Station Brew Works, a restaurant and brew pub, opened in McMinnville. News-Register, 9/12/2013
• Salud Raw Food will open in Bend. The raw-food café and juice bar will offer a selection of gluten-free, sweet, and savory dishes. The Bulletin, 9/13/2013
• The Point Bar & Grill will open in Central Point next month. Mail Tribune, 9/9/2013
• The Fusion Restaurant opened in Roseburg. The News-Review, 9/16/2013

Also included in this week's announcements are a few expansions:

• Daimler Trucks North America plans to build a new, $150-million headquarters on Swan Island in Portland that will add 400 high-wage jobs. The Oregonian, 9/13/2013
• Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford expanded its neonatal intensive care unit, allowing room for 12 more patients. KDRV, 8/29/2013
• Pacific Air Switch Corporation is expanding its manufacturing facility in Forest Grove, and will add seven workers. The Oregonian, 9/12/2013
• Cosmos Creations, a maker of snack foods, is expanding its Junction City factory. It has grown from four to 35 employees in the past two years. The Register-Guard, 8/25/2013

Unfortunately, there are also some layoffs and closures throughout the state:

• Capital One Financial Corp. will lay off about 70 workers at its call center in Tigard by early December. The Oregonian, 9/13/2013
• The Salvation Army store in Tillamook closed. Headlight-Herald, 9/11/2013
• The Dalles Furniture will close. The Dalles Chronicle, 9/4/2013
• Kennedy's Eastside Grocery, a family-run neighborhood market in Baker City, closed. Baker City Herald, 8/28/2013
• Ole's Gun Shop in Salem will close. Statesman Journal, 9/7/2013
