Business Activity Around the State

This week's Around the State report includes a variety of business activity, including a few with rather large employment impacts.

A couple businesses are expanding...
  • The Royal Caribbean reservations center in Springfield plans to hire 200 workers by the end of the year. The Register-Guard, 9/24/2013
  • Cascades Tissue Group plans to install a second paper machine at its St. Helens mill, nearly doubling production and creating 29 jobs within the next year. The South County Spotlight, 9/20/2013
....a couple businesses are relocating...
  • Indiana-based Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc. will close its RV plants in Clackamas and Burley, Idaho and move production to Pendleton by the end of the year. The plant will employ 125 people. East Oregonian, 9/24/2013
  • Summit Foods Inc., a Cornelius-based fruit processor, will relocate to Forest Grove. It plans to add five to seven workers. The Oregonian, 9/12/2013
...and a few businesses are closing:
  • The Sears store and auto center in Bend will close in December. It employs 48 people. KTVZ, 9/24/2013
  • Cedar Links Golf Course in Medford closed. KDRV, 9/22/2013
  • Spints Alehouse in northeast Portland closed. The Oregonian, 9/15/2013
