Employment Changes Around the State

This week's Around the State business announcements include several listings with employment impacts for Oregonians.

On the Upside:
  • New Seasons Market will open at the upcoming Nyberg Rivers shopping center in Tualatin. It will employ 150 full- and part-time employees. Portland Business Journal, 7/23/2013
  • Brentwood Corp., a Molalla cabinet door manufacturer, increased its workforce from 127 in 2012 to 165 and is continuing to hire three to five workers every week. Molalla Pioneer, 7/19/2013
  • Mozilla, the nonprofit group that makes the Firefox web browser, plans to expand its Portland office and add about 14 employees. The Oregonian, 7/17/2013
  • Joseph Hardware in Joseph will relocate to a larger space later this year that will allow it to offer more items and add one to three employees. Wallowa County Chieftain, 7/10/2013
Unfortunately, there are some reductions and closures too:
  • Jeld-Wen in Klamath Falls will lay off its 35-member marketing staff and relocate the department to North Carolina. Herald and News, 7/24/2013
  • Elite Cabinets, a custom cabinetry shop in south Salem that employed 12 people, was destroyed by a fire. The owner plans to rebuild. Statesman Journal, 7/11/2013
  • Kaiser Permanente will close its membership services call center in northeast Portland in October. It employs 111 people, but new jobs have been found for nearly 50 of the workers. The Oregonian, 7/24/2013
