Education News Across the State

With students back in the classroom after a week off for spring break, a few education-related articles have been posted by news sources across the state. One article from OPB reports on growth at Portland State University. As noted in the article, "PSU has grown by an average of 700 students a year for the last decade – helping Oregon to become the fastest-growing university system in the country."

Another article from KGW reports that three universities in the northwest -- Central Washington University, Oregon State University, and University of Portland -- will share a $625,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for earthquake and tsunami training.

Finally, an article in the Bend Bulletin reports on student loan default rates for students who attended Central Oregon Community College. According to the article, approximately 26 percent of those who began repaying their federal loans in 2010 have defaulted in the past three years. For more information, check out the full article.
