An Eclectic Group of Businsses Adding Jobs Around the State

This week's edition of Around the State business announcements includes a diverse mix of new and expanding businesses.
  • Portland General Electric will begin construction of a new electric generating plant at Port Westward near Clatskanie this summer. The project is expected to create about 200 construction jobs and two permanent jobs. The South County Spotlight, 2/6/2013
  • DuPont Pioneer will expand its Hermiston plant. It was awarded a conditional grant of $150,000 from the Governor's Strategic Reserve Fund to help finance the expansion contingent upon the company creating 18 full-time jobs and retaining its existing 34 full-time positions over a two-year period.   • Hillsboro Aviation will open a flight school at the Prineville Airport. It will start out with two aircraft, two instructors, and about five students. Central Oregonian, 1/21/2013
  • Vernier Software & Technology will expand its Beaverton headquarters by this summer. As part of a five-year property-tax exemption, it will also hire about 10 employees over the next five years. The Oregonian, 1/17/2013
  • Pinnacle Propane of Texas plans to open a facility in Goshen for maintaining and refilling tanks by year's end. It will employ 36 people. The Register-Guard, 2/5/2013
