Pet Stores, Cafés, and Other Business News Around the State

This week's list of business announcements includes a couple of new pet shops:
  • Mini Pet Mart will open in Roseburg. It will employ about six full- and part-time workers. The News-Review, 10/28/2012
  • Fang & Feather, a pet shop, opened in north Portland. Neighborhood Notes, 11/6/2012
There were also a few cafés: 
  • Steamers & Screamers, a café and indoor playground, will open in Vancouver. The Oregonian, 10/9/2012 
  • Good Things Café opened in St. Helens. The Chronicle, 10/31/2012   
  • Sunrise Café will open a second Medford location in December. It will offer traditional Hawaiian lunches and serve as a catering base for the company. Mail Tribune, 10/24/2012 
 And other various news: 
  • Pomegranate Communications Inc., a small art publishing business, will move from Petaluma, Calif. to Portland by late March 2013. Some of the company's 30 employees will move to Oregon. Portland Business Journal, 10/11/2012  
  • McCormack Coil Co. Inc. in Lake Oswego closed, laying off about 30 people. It made aluminum refrigeration coils for the industrial refrigeration market. Portland Business Journal, 11/7/2012
  • Columbia River Fire and Rescue in St. Helens received more than $1 million in grant money. The funds will pay for a volunteer coordinator and three firefighter positions. The South County Spotlight, 11/3/2012
