High-Dollar Announcements Around the State

This week's edition of Around the State contains several large announcements; some have big price tags attached to them.
  • Three beer makers in Eugene are expanding. Ninkasi Brewing Co. is planning a $15-million addition and will add 20 employees by 2013; Hop Valley Brewing Co. is adding production space and a tasting room; and Oakshire Brewing Co. is planning a $1-million expansion and will add 10 employees by 2013.   • Siskiyou Community Health Center was awarded a $3.4-million grant to expand its Cave Junction medical clinic. It will feature a full-service dental facility and pharmacy. The expansion will enable the center to hire the equivalent of 26.5 full-time employees. Grants Pass Daily Courier, 5/8/2012
  • The Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians are buying the Ocean Dunes Golf Links adjacent to their Three Rivers Casino and Hotel in Florence. Plans call for a new clubhouse and a redesign of the course. The Register-Guard, 4/14/2012 
One such announcement will result in job reductions: 
  • The Oregon Department of Transportation will lose eight jobs in Baker and Union counties in January 2013 when Oregon Travel Experience, a semi-independent state agency, takes over responsibility for maintaining three local rest areas along Interstate 84. Baker City Herald, 5/7/2012
