Around the State for Artists, Designers, and Bargain Hunters

Several shops related to art, crafts, and fashion design recently opened their doors:
  • Antler, a small art gallery, opened in northeast Portland. Neighborhood Notes, 2/7/2012
  • Trillium Artisans, a holiday pop-up store, will open a permanent location in southwest Portland. It's operated by a nonprofit and aims to help low-income artisans bring their products to market. The Oregonian, 1/24/2012

  • Joann Fabric and Craft Stores will open in Warrenton. It will feature arts and crafts classes and supplies for sewing, jewelry-making, crafts, and home décor projects. The Daily Astorian, 2/10/2012
  • Amy Dotts, a store featuring blankets, bags, and tailored dresses designed by the owner, opened in northeast Portland. It also offers the works of other local designers. Neighborhood Notes, 2/7/2012
Recent business openings also include a new and used sporting goods store and a closeout/overstock retailer:
  • Next Shot Sportsgear, a non-profit store specializing in new and used sporting equipment, opened at Plaza 99 in northeast Vancouver. The Columbian, 2/6/2012
  • Big Lots will open in North Bend in June. The World, 2/21/2012
