The Urban Institute's MetroTrends staff recently released their grades for the nation's top 100 metropolitan areas based on measures of economic security. Metrics for the rankings include unemployment, home prices, housing affordability for workers, and mortgage delinquency.
According to these rankings, Portland placed 47th among the largest 100 metros. Oklahoma City took the top spot, while Las Vegas ranked 100th. Portland generally compared favorably to other metros with its unemployment rate and relatively low rate of mortgage delinquency. Portland received lower grades for home price erosion and housing affordability.
