Move-ins, Start ups, and Expansions Around the State

There are many announcements of companies starting a business, expanding, or moving to Oregon in this week's edition of Around the State:
  • Vancouver-based First Independent Bank will open with full-service branches in downtown Portland and at Cascade Station. The Columbian, 8/30/2011
  • Brooklyn-based BankSimple, a financial services company, will move its headquarters to Portland. It already has a five-person development office in the Pearl District and plans to move a dozen more employees to Portland by year's end. The Oregonian, 8/24/2011
  • Affiliated Computer Services Inc. plans to hire 300 workers for its call center operations in Tigard. Portland Business Journal, 8/25/2011
  • A $10-million plant to recycle plastic bottles will open early next year in St. Helens. It is owned by a partnership named ORPET and is expected to employ 25 people by December. The Oregonian, 8/30/2011
  • Women's Health Center of Southern Oregon and Asante Health Systems broke ground on a $7-million facility in Grants Pass that will house physicians and services under one roof. The two-story, 27,000-square-foot clinic is expected to open in September 2012. Grants Pass Daily Courier, 8/23/2011
