July Metropolitan and County (Un)Employment Numbers

This morning the Oregon Employment Department released the July employment numbers and unemployment rates* for the state's counties and metropolitan areas. In July, Gilliam County saw the lowest jobless rate (6.3%) of all Oregon counties, and Crook County had the highest rate (15.6%). Unemployment dropped by 1 percentage point or more over the year in 16 counties. The largest declines occurred in Deschutes and Crook counties (-2.1 percentage points each).

The southern Oregon counties saw the largest increase over the year (0.9%). The Willamette Valley saw the largest drop in employment over the year (-1.3%), followed by the combined eastern counties (-1.2%), and the combined central Oregon counties (-0.3%).
