October (Un)Employment in Oregon's Counties

Released this morning: The latest employment and unemployment figures for Oregon's 36 counties. You can look up the employment data by county (and industry!) on our main website at www.qualityinfo.org/olmisj/CES.

The unemployment rates ranged from 6.0 percent (Gilliam County) to 18.6 percent (Crook County). From September to October, 16 counties experienced a rate decrease, 8 counties saw an increase, and the remaining 12 were essentially unchanged. Compared to one year ago (October 2009), 18 counties had lower rates, 11 counties had higher rates, and 7 counties were essentially unchanged. Columbia County's rate was down the most over the year, dropping from 13.4 percent to 12.2 percent. Wheeler County's rate was up the most, from 8.4 percent to 11.3 percent.
