Unfortunately, this week's roundup of business news included closures in just about every area of the state:
• Pasta Veloce at the Scholls Center in Tigard closed. Daily Journal of Commerce, 5-26-10
• Spotted Mule Saddlery and Western Wear in Bend will close. Bend Bulletin, 6-5-10
• The Dollar Store in Newberg will close. It employs seven people. Newberg Graphic, 6-2-10
• Brenner’s Home Furniture in Springfield will close. The store’s two salespersons will transfer to its Eugene location. Register-Guard, 5-29-10
• Mad Matilda’s coffee house and restaurant in Baker City is closing. Baker City Herald, 5-28-10
But there were also some new openings...
• Tangled Purls, a yarn and craft store, opened in Salem. It also offers classes, workshops, and gift items. Statesman Journal, 6-8-10
• Nepal on Exchange, a store in that sells clothing from Nepal, opened in Astoria. Daily Astorian, 6-3-10
