Unemployment rates around Oregon

Just released this morning: April 2010 unemployment rates for all 36 of Oregon's counties (www.qualityinfo.org/olmisj/AllRates). You can also get info on employment by industry in each county (www.qualityinfo.org/olmisj/CES).

Here are a few highlights from the latest data:
Highest rate: Crook County (16.6%)
Lowest rate: Gilliam (7.1%)

Over the year, unemployment rates...
Increased in 4 counties
Decreased in 26 counties
Were essentially unchanged in 6 counties

The largest drop over the year was Malheur County in Eastern Oregon (12.0% in April 2009 to 9.6% in April 2010), followed by Douglas county (from 16.0% to 14.0%).

Oregon's statewide unemployment rate in April was 10.6 percent.
