Business changes quite varied around the state

Business announcements around the state were quite mixed this week. News from both the coast and Portland-area showed nothing but growth, while Eastern Oregon announced one business contraction and one closure this week.

The rest of the state (Central and Southern Oregon, and the Willamette Valley) was evenly split, with 6 businesses openingor expanding, and 6 contracting or closing.

Announcements included:
· The Antique Mall in Newport expanded by 8,000 square feet when it moved to site of the former Craft Warehouse store. It now has room for another 80 to 100 vendors. News Times, 10-14-09

· The Roseburg Piano Academy has opened. It offers lessons for all ages. The News-Review, 10-18-09

· Clear One Health Plans Inc. in Bend will lay off about 25 people by December 31. Bend Bulletin, 10-16-09

· RadioPopper Inc., a provider of wireless products for photography, will open in Vancouver. The Columbian, 10-5-09

· Pacific Stonescape closed its yard in Eugene. Lane Forest Products bought the inventory and equipment and offered positions to its three employees. Register-Guard, 10-7-09
