On the Map: Commuting Patterns and Labor Sheds

On The Map, a Web-based interactive mapping application, has been developed through a partnership between the U.S. Census Bureau's Local Employment Dynamics (LED) program and several partner states, including Oregon. The objective of the application is to show where people work and live on maps.

The application is designed to answer questions such as:

Where do workers live who are employed in the selected area?

What are the workplace destinations for workers living in the selected community or neighborhood?

How do selected areas compare in terms of worker origin-destination patterns, ages, monthly earnings, and industry?

The tool is priceless for community planners, business owners, and policy makers. And the best thing is the tool is actually priceless (as in FREE).
