Top Occupations in Northwest Oregon (With a Catch!)

Most occupations in northwest Oregon are expected to grow. The occupations that are expected to have the most openings are retail salesperson, food server, cashier, combined food preparation and serving worker, and cook. The catch is: all of these are typically low-wage jobs.

Most of these occupations are found in restaurants, hotels and shops and are related to the travel industry. The modest entry requirements for these occupations can make them a good choice for someone just entering the labor market.

Despite modest wages, the numerous openings in these occupations are an advantage for job seekers.
