Green Jobs in Oregon and the Nation

The PEW Charitable Trusts issued a report this week called "The Clean Energy Economy". Results from the report have made headlines all over the nation, with articles in newspapers ranging from The Wall Street Journal to the Oregonian.

According to the report and the definition used by the PEW, Oregon had more than 19,000 "green jobs" in 2007. Growth among green jobs was also reportedly very high from 1998 to 2007, at about 51 percent. The PEW report predicts that Oregon will have one of the fastest growth rates in green jobs over the next few years.

Oregon is not alone, however; the report provides a state-by-state analysis of green jobs. The full version is available online.

NOTE: The Employment Department recently conducted a survey of Oregon businesses regarding "green jobs". Our report is in the final stages of editing and will be available by the end of the month (June 30th). Stay posted 'cuz you know we'll blog about it!
