What's happening Around the State?

Want to know what’s happening in your local business community? Check this out! The following five highlights are just a few excerpts from this week’s Around the State – a roundup of published news stories about businesses opening, closing, contracting, and expanding.

· Holiday Inn Express will open an 85-room hotel in Newport. News Times, 5-13-09

· Chantele Loving Touch Memory Care in Sutherlin, a residential care facility for people with memory problems, added a second building with capacity for 15 residents and a third one is in the planning stages. It is hiring for a variety of positions. The News-Review, 5-3-09

· Sun Storage, a manufacturer of elevated, ground-mounted arrays on which to place solar panels, has opened with headquarters in Enterprise and a fabrication site in La Grande. The Observer, 5-13-09

· The West Linn-Wilsonville School District will eliminate over two dozen teaching positions, as well as reducing tens of thousands of hours for classified staff – a group including janitors, secretaries, instructional assistants, and substitute teachers. Wilsonville Spokesman, 5-14-09

· Construction will begin this summer on a 40-million, 94,000-square-foot WinCo Foods in Brush Prairie, Washington. It is expected to open in early 2010. The Columbian, 5-6-09
