Over-the-Year Employment Growth and Real Wages

Employment Growth in Oregon

Construction employment growth in Oregon was 10.2 percent between March 2013 and March 2014. This was faster than any other industry in Oregon by more than double. Following employment growth in the construction industry was the professional and business services industry (4.6%) and the other services (which includes things like machine repair and laundry services) industry (4.5%). Government grew more slowly than any industry in Oregon with a growth rate of 0.7 percent.



Average Pay in Oregon

Average covered pay in Oregon grew 2.7 percent from the second half of 2012 to the second half of 2013. Over the same period, inflation in Oregon was about 2.8 percent. This means real (inflation-adjusted) wages declined by about 0.1 percentage point between the second half of 2012 and the second half of 2013.
