Around the State: Oregon Business Openings and Closings

Happy new year from the Oregon Employment Department!  Here are a few openings and closings around Oregon to get things started for the new year:

Openings and Expansions:
  • The Hive, a pod of 24 studios for artists and entrepreneurs to rent, will open at the Salem Arts Building in downtown Salem. Statesman Journal, 12/3/2013
  • Beautyholic, a store offering beauty supplies from South Korea, Europe, and the United States, opened in northwest Portland. The Oregonian, 12/27/2013
  • Starbucks, The UPS Store, Vivid Nails, and Pacific Dental will open at Parkway Village at Sherwood next fall. Portland Business Journal, 12/19/2013
  • The Furniture Connexion opened in Gresham. Portland Business Journal, 12/13/2013
  • Trapala Authentic Mexican Restaurant opened in Woodburn. Woodburn Independent, 12/25/2013
  • The Dogwood Cocktail Cabin, a bar and lounge, will open in downtown Bend in February. The Bulletin, 12/28/2013
  • Cannon Beach Fitness opened in Cannon Beach. The Daily Astorian, 12/19/2013
  • Ta Ta's New Days, a thrift store, opened in Roseburg. The News-Review, 12/30/2013
Closed for 2014:
  • Main Street Jewelers in Klamath Falls will close. Herald and News, 12/22/2013
  • Mad Greek Deli in northwest Portland will close. Beaverton Valley Times, 1/1/2014
  • Farmhouse Antiques in southeast Portland will close. The Bee, 12/22/2013
  • Karla's Smokehouse in Rockaway Beach closed. It offered smoked fish, oysters, and meats. The North Coast Citizen, 12/24/2013
  • MacLevin's Restaurant in Jacksonville will close. KDRV, 12/26/2013
